What this is
The 416 is an independent city paper about Toronto startups. It is not the company index of any firm listed on it, not a broker, and not investment advice. Numbers on a page are what a company or a public source told the desk. Check them before you act on them.
Filings and interviews
You may file a listing, a transfer, or a talk, or answer an interview, only if the facts are yours to give and they are true. An interview is not posted unless you tick the box on the questions form. That tick lets the desk edit the answers and publish them on the site and in the weekly. You still may not see it run. The desk can refuse, correct, or take down a page without a reason you like. Contact emails are not published. The “do not print” box on an interview is not published.
Ads
Paid placements are labeled. Buying one does not buy a change to the company index or a guarantee the desk will run an interview. Prices on the advertise page can change. A booking is confirmed when the desk writes back.
The weekly
The footer list is marketing email. You join only if you tick the box. One issue a week, plus the odd note from the desk about the paper. Unsubscribe by emailing the desk. The privacy policy says what we store.
Do not
Do not file a company you do not speak for, scrape the site to rebuild it, or send anything unlawful, including someone else’s private information. Do not present a filing as the desk’s reporting. Links out to a company’s site are theirs, not ours.
The paper can be wrong
The site is offered as it is. We do not promise that a page is complete, that a deal on the transfers board will close, or that the site will be up every hour. To the extent Ontario law allows, the desk is not liable for a decision you make from a page here. Nothing on this site limits liability that Ontario law does not let us limit.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply here. The courts of Ontario hear disputes about them.
